Open banking. Global idea. Local challenges

We would like to start the open banking discussion within the CEE region. Our idea is to get together banks and payment institutions from the CEE region to work on some more effective and innovative solutions in the area of open banking. We are convinced, that our region has a lot to offer to the open banking world.

The starting point of the Open Banking Day will be a presentation of the report PSD2 and Open Banking. Revolution or evolution? The report is the result of research conducted by KPMG and the Polish Bank Association among Polish banks, fintech companies and customers about how they perceive the change in the banking environment. Is it an opportunity or a threat? What is and will be the impact of PSD2 implementation? How do customers see it? How TPPs will take advantage of this business opportunity?

In the main part of the event, representatives of the Polish and CEE region banking sector, fintechs and IT vendors will share with the audience their experiences in the area of PSD2 implementation processes and open banking issues.

In the final discussion panel, we will look for the answers for such questions: Is it any chance for global open banking ecosystem? What are the banks most anxious about in open banking scenario? TechFin (means GAFA) monopoly – not if but when? Privacy vs openness – is the balance right?

Open Banking Day is connected also with a parallel event named Open Banking Challenge. The Polish Bank Association, together with KPMG Poland and Matchi, is challenging global fintech community to present their solutions in the area of open banking and PSD2. The best solutions will be enlisted to demo their technology in one-on-one sessions to senior decision-makers from Polish banks and insurance companies in Warsaw on 7 March.

KPMG Matchi is a leading global innovation and matchmaking platform that connects financial institutions and other large companies, with leading-edge, emerging technology solutions and innovators worldwide.
